Introduction to AxCrypt

AxCrypt is a free, open-source, and cross-platform encryption software for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is designed to help users secure their sensitive data by encrypting files using strong encryption algorithms.

With AxCrypt, users can easily encrypt and decrypt files, as well as set passwords for individual files or folders. The software also includes features such as file shredding and integration with Windows Explorer, which makes it easy to use and convenient for everyday use.

Installation Manual

  1. Go to the AxCrypt website (https://www.axcrypt.net/) and click the "Download" button.
  2. Select the version of AxCrypt that you want to download. There are versions available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  3. Once the download is complete, double-click the installation file to start the installation process.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. This will typically involve accepting the terms of use and selecting a destination folder for the software.
  5. Once the installation is complete, you can launch AxCrypt by double-clicking the icon on your desktop or by searching for it in your Start menu (on Windows) or Applications folder (on macOS).

Encrypt the file

  1. Launch AxCrypt and sign in using your email address and password. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one by clicking the "Sign up" button and following the prompts.

2. To encrypt a file, click the "Secure" button with "lock" icon and select the file you want to encrypt. You will be prompted to enter a password for the file.

3. Then, the encrypted file will be shown in the recent file

4. We also can just encrypt file thru the windows explorer. Just right click the selected file, go to AxCrypt and click Encrypt. The encrypted file will be shown in the application


Decrypt the file

  1. Open the location of the file that has been encrypted using the AxCrypt.

2. Right-click the file and choose AxCrypt > Decrypt to start decrypt the file.

3. Enter your passphrase and click OK.

4. The file has been decrypted and it is changed to its original form. Try to open the file.
